Change your routine

Everyone is guilty of this. Regardless of how long we’ve been working out, we get into a routine of doing the same thing at the gym. Time after time it rarely changes. We strive to push further on our regular exercises but rarely do we try things we’ve never done before. It’s time to change this behavior.

For starters, it’s boring. But more importantly, it limits your results because you are always working out the sames muscles in the exact same way. Even slight modifications to your normal exercises would be an improvement and will get your muscles to react differently. Here are some ways you can get started.

1. Pick a muscle group and ask a trainer to show you something new. That’s what they are there for. Make talking to the trainers part of your routine.

2. Pick a piece of equipment you’ve never used and bang out a few reps. Try this once a week and surely you’ll add new things to your lineup.

3. Watch what other people are doing and find something new.

4. Download a fitness app. Apps like iFitness are loaded with hundreds of exercise variations. Take your smartphone to the gym and you’ll never run out of ideas.

However you decide to do it, the point is to mix it up. It will make your time at the gym more enjoyable and improve your results. After all, the hardest part about working out is getting off the couch to get to the gym. Once you’re there you may as well make the most of it.
